CaixaBank, S.A.
CaixaBank is a Spanish retail bank. The perimeter that matters is households and firms in Spain: deposits, payroll accounts, mortgages, funds and the VidaCaixa insurance arm, inside the same customer relationship. The Bankia integration enlarged that network. This report does not attach a market-share figure.
It is a euro-area bank. Earnings come from net interest, fees, the cost of credit and whatever the supervisor allows to be paid out. The map is more domestic than Santander's and less tilted to Mexico than BBVA's. That is the comparison that matters, not a one-point P/E gap among the three.
Digitalisation cuts cost if it actually takes work out of the branch. It is not a software multiple. CET1, non-performing loans and the deposit mix are the dashboard. When rates rise, the margin can jump. When they fall or credit breaks, provisions take over.
"The advantage is the relationship already in place: payroll, mortgage, funds and insurance with the same customer, plus a branch network that still matters for part of the savings book. Moving that package to another bank is slow. There is no exclusive licence on the Spanish economy. Santander and BBVA compete in the same market. A banking moat is deposits and credit skill. A bad cycle spends it."

Health scores borrowed from an industrial fit a deposit balance sheet badly. If the axis looks odd, believe CET1 and credit quality in the filing before an Altman-style score. Quality is return on tangible equity and efficiency, poorly proxied by ROIC in the cache. Growth follows the Spanish loan book and Spanish rates. Valuation in P/E and book value is how European banks actually trade. Shareholder return — dividend and buybacks — exists when the supervisor allows distributions.
P/E and price to tangible book first. Dividend yield is read against earnings and against capital, not as a coupon. EV/EBITDA is a poor primary tool for a deposit bank. ROIC in an industrial-shaped payload may not match the return the bank publishes. If free-cash-flow yield looks absurd, ignore it. Dashes beat an invented zero.
Not advice on CABK.MC. This is not an ECB stress test. Vaultflake translates an industrial radar onto a bank. It does not forecast unemployment or the yield curve, and it does not value VidaCaixa as a standalone insurer. Read the CNMV filings. Spanish bank dividends have been cut in crises. The cache is not a live quote.
